GABRIELLE MARTHE (GABY) GAGNON (nee BONIN) 1922 - 2010 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gabrielle Gagnon. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 13, 2010 at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, Manitoba. Gabrielle will be dearly missed by her sister Denise Matkowski, her children Jeanette, Raymond (Judy), Sharon, Rick (Brenda), Ron (Cyndy), Skip (Tracey) and her grandchildren Angie, Randy, Michelle, Cathy, Doug, Barbara, Jimmy, Wesley, Cindy, Darryl, Melissa, Cory, Stacy, Rob, Allison, Tiara and Rylan. Also many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives. Gabrielle was predeceased by husband Lucien, sons Roger and Robert. Gabrielle was born in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec on January 25, 1922 and later resided in Richer, Manitoba where she married Lucien. They relocated to Fort Garry in Winnipeg where she made her home with her husband and they raised their eight children and many foster children. Gabrielle will be fondly remembered for her gentle, loving spirit. Her greatest joy was spending time visiting with her family. Gabrielle truly enjoyed gardening and could always be seen sewing, knitting or crocheting something special for one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. During Gabrielle's later years she became an avid fisherman always catching the biggest fish and would never turn down a good card or dice game. A celebration of Gabrielle's life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The viewing will take place at 1:00 p.m. and Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., the interment and reception to follow immediately thereafter. On behalf of the family our sincere thank you to the staff at the Assiniboine Centre Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care Gabrielle received as well as all the support, compassion and kindness the family was given. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gabrielle's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, Manitoba or The Assiniboine Centre Palliative Care Unit, Brandon, Manitoba.
